broken ubuntu gutsy sources.list

Posted by Tim on May 19, 2009 in Open Source |

Attempting to update my repository on our Ubuntu VPS running the gutsy 7.10 version…I noticed that I was getting 404 ERRORs caused by the distribution being moved from its normal place within the mirrors.

deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse

replace all the URL’s with http://old-releases.ubuntu.com

you should now be able to update your packages etc from this URL.

Gutsy Gibbon? I think there is a 2 year support cycle for Ubuntu releases, looks like Gutsy’s cycle ended last month. you should really consider upgrading to 9.04 :P

Yip, we are planning to upgrade to 9.04..problem is that the hosting provider doesn’t have the provision to upgrade to the latest. I performed a mock upgrade but ran into issues that are specific to the host providers configuration..hopefully they will have this new version available soon :)
